The so-called “war for talents” is now omnipresent as qualified staff is in higher demand than ever. In this context, it is not surprising that new start-ups continuously attempt to seize this opportunity to satisfy companies’ needs when it comes to finding high potential employees. In a recent analysis by LSP Digital, 80 start-ups, founded after 2014 and located in Germany, were identified, which focus on and offer new & innovative solutions for any of the four stages of the recruiting process; (1) “preparation” (i.e. generation of job ads), (2) “finding” (e.g. through platforms, which match companies with potential candidates), (3) “winning, holding, selecting” (e.g. the automatic screening of applications), and (4) “hiring” (e.g. drawing up contracts).
Interestingly, the diversity of such solutions being offered rises continuously. While the focus used to be, between 2015 and 2016, on finding the right candidate, this has shifted also towards the other stages of the recruiting process. The solutions range from the autonomous generation and revision of job ads based on machine learning algorithms, to fully automatic hiring processes, including job interviews via virtual assistants such as Alexa. Platform-based hiring business-models are, as so often the case in the context of business digitalisation, at the top of the agenda for those start-ups.
The Mecca of recruiting start-ups is unsurprisingly Berlin, followed by Hamburg and Munich.
