Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a planning method in the building industry which incorporates the planning, execution and management of buildings with help from software. A considerable number of building companies in Germany have adopted BIM at varying levels of usage. As the concept gains popularity in the industry, there has been a dynamic development in the market for BIM software, as can be seen in the data of the infographic prepared by the strategic consulting firm, LSP Digital.
The turnovers of the leading manufacturers (Aconex, Autodesk, Nemetschek, and Trimble) amounted to approximately 2.3 billion U.S. dollars of which 34 percent came from the economic area of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The BIM market outlook is positive: buildings will be more connected, more flexible and further integrated in the future. Therefore, the digital interconnectedness of phase planning, building and use will be of increasing importance. Analysts currently forecast a market volume of 11.5 billion U.S. dollars by 2022.
